This project focused on extensive research and period-accurate, fully-realized mountmaking for a 19th-century dress that had undergone a number of changes in its lifetime. Through study of its construction and fit, it was deduced that the dress was initially made in the 1860s, re-made or altered in the 1870s, and was left in the middle of another potential alteration in the 1880s. We chose to mount it on a Kyoto Costume Institute mannequin with a white paper wig (constructed using watercolor paper).

A custom Ethafoam and Fosshape mount was created for this ensemble (and the base was fabricated specifically for the mount as well).
